Help

I’m trying to register but it’s asking me for a Registration Code – what is it?
The code is 192. Once you’ve registered, you won’t need this code again, but you can pass it along to other team members who would like to join.

When will the programme run?
This year, Hedgehog Friendly Campus will run from March 2021 to December 2021. Here are some important dates:
- 2021 Toolkit Submission Deadline: 31st December 2021
- Audits: January 2022
- Certificates sent: February 2022

Who can take part?
Any staff member, student or even an interested community member! Teams are best when they involve both staff and students, but a student or staff only team is fine - there are initiatives to suit everyone. We can help promote your new team, just get in touch!

I don't know much about hedgehogs... does that matter?
Definitely not! All you need is the enthusiasm. The toolkit is broken down into initiatives with further information that tell you everything you need to know and you can always get in touch if you would like support.

How does the scoring system work?
It’s pretty simple.

Universities and Colleges
- Bronze: Complete at least 10 out of the listed Bronze initiatives
- Silver: Complete Bronze level, then at least 7 out of the listed Silver initiatives
- Gold: Complete Bronze & Silver, then at least 5 out of the listed Gold initiatives

Primary schools
- Bronze: Complete enough activities to gain at least 20 points (you must complete the Essential activities)
- Silver: Complete enough activities to gain at least 40 points (you must complete the Essential activities)
- Gold: Complete enough activities to gain at least 60 points (you must complete the Essential activities)

How do I move through the levels of accreditation?

Universities and colleges
You and your team must complete the levels in succession - you must complete Bronze before moving to Silver, and Silver before moving to Gold. Bronze lasts for 1 year, Silver lasts for 2 years and Gold lasts for 3 years. At the end of the period you will need to either renew your current level, or submit for the next level to prevent your accreditation from expiring. For example, if you want to keep your Gold status, you will need to renew the Gold accreditation at the end of the 3 years.

Primary Schools
You and your team can submit for any level of accreditation this year – you do not have to complete the levels in succession.

How much time do I need?
Teams with an hour a week between them will manage to achieve some really great results. And don’t forget we are on hand to help with anything you need to make your campus as hedgehog friendly as possible!

How do I know if my university, primary school or college already has a team?
You can see the list of current teams when you click Register. Or, contact us on info@hedgehogfriendlycampus.co.uk and we can let you know!

My university, primary school or college already has a team. Can I start a second one?
In some cases, it might make sense to get multiple accreditations for separate parts of campus. Contact us to discuss!

We offer free resources, talks, admin support, general advice and workshops (such as our Hedgehog Survey Workshop, which includes free survey equipment). Get in touch for a complete list of what we offer!
